After graduating Toho Gakuen Music High School and being admitted to Toho Gakuen Music College, Yuko UENO continued her musical studies at Fondazione Accademia Internazionale di Imola, Italy, where she finished with diploma, and then she acquired diplom superieur de concertiste de piano at l’Ecole Normale Alfred Cortot de Paris, where she was highly evaluated by Martha Argelich, Abdel-Rahman El-Bacha and Cyprien Katsaris. In 2009, she unanimously was granted diploma also in the Chamber Music faculty.
Yuko UENO is a prizewinner of many international piano competitions, such as Hamamatsu International Piano Academy Competition and International Johann Nepomuk Hummel Piano Competition in Bratislava, Slovakia. Since starting her career, she has been invited not only as a pianist, but also as a chamber music player to various renowned festivals and concert halls, such as Settimane Musicali a Stresa (Italy), Matinee at l’Associazione Mozart Italia, Salle Cortot Paris, Theatre Saint-Bonnet in Bourges, Tokyo Performing Art Festival, La Folle Journee Tokyo. She also has enjoyed performing with orchestras, including National Orchestra of the Republic of Moldova, Slovakia Philharmonic Orchestra, Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, Tokyo City Philharmonic Orchestra. In addition, she has appeared in music programme on RAI3 (Italy), FM-RTVS (Slovakia), NHK-FM (Japan), OTTAVA (JAPAN), and now she is considered an artist with international as well as national reputations.
Recently, apart from concert appearances, Yuko is active also in lectures, article writing and competition judging. In 2008, she released her first recording, which was selected as one of the best CDs of the month by a music magazine “Record Geijutsu – Art of Records”. Also in 2015, her second CD was chosen as one of the best CDs of the month in the above-mentioned magazine. In 2017, she started “Prokofiev’s Complete Piano Sonatas Cycle”, which has become focus of public attention.
Yuko shows her interest and passion in teaching and has been a teacher at Showa Music University, Japan. Furthermore she is a member of Piano Teachers National Association (PTNA), where she was awarded a special teacher’s prize in 2018 PTNA Competition, as well as Japan Piano Teachers Association (JPTA), Japan Federation of Musicians, Frederic Chopin Society of Japan, Japan Arensky Society and Japan – Russia Society of Musicians.
